Description
This is a card made with a dragon drawing which I made back in August 2016. I sketched a dragon on a small sheet of yellow paper (Ursus Tonzeichenpapier), using Adel pencil B. I finished it using Felissimo 130, 136, 225, and 099, and a Polychromos dark grey (9201-181) and Pablo Caran d'Ache blanc and noir. I fixated it with Marabu Fixativ and glued it to a small greeting card from Tchibo (which came in a set of different colours, they are about 11 x 8 cm, so the size is between A6 and A7). For the glue, I used a Pritt Refill Roller.
I have a book "Forging Dragons" by John Howe, it's a mix of "how to draw dragons" and an encyclopedia about dragons. I used the sketch of a dragon head from that book as inspiration, but I tweaked it a lot so it doesn't look like the reference anymore. Since I drew it on yellow paper, I tried to pay good attention to the choice of colours and the lighting. I really like the outcome!
I had seen a video by Sycra (he makes great tutorials!) about using colours. It applies to traditional drawing too, I think.
